The hovawarts of Paris school for guide dogs

La galerie de portraits To replace the German Shepherd, the Paris school for guide dogs began showing an interest in the Hovawart as from 1994. 2 Hovawarts, a male and a female (Ilos & Iulia) began working in 1995. This experience proved so successful that the breeding programme started in 1997 with Loula and Lucky.
After that a bitch was selected from each new litter for breeding purposes. Four generations of guide dogs have been produced by the school's descendants.
At the same time, the school acquired 3 additional bitches, 2 from Poland and one from a French breeder. Another bitch was offered by a Polish breeder.

At present the Paris school for guide dogs has 19 Hovawarts that are actively working, 3 retiree, 2 are training and 1 in host family.

Amongst these descendants of Loula and Lucky, 21 are guide dogs and 2 future guide dogs. (Two puppy from the Paris school stock was educated and given away by another association)
